Waking up ready to conquer your day is one of the most rewarding feelings. Your quality of sleep can dramatically affect your mood and energy upon waking up. If you are having a hard time getting enough sleep or sleeping through the night, it may be time to optimize your bedroom space. Your bedroom decor, furniture, mattress, light, and temperature can all play a part in how you sleep each night.

A few simple tweaks to your bedroom space can have a significant positive impact on your sleep quality. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you turn your bedroom into an environment for sensational sleep:

1.     Keep It Cool

Do you ever wake up ripping your covers off trying to get cool? Studies show that the best temperature for sleep is around 60-67 degrees Fahrenheit.  If your room is too hot, it might be keeping you up at night.

If you don’t want to leave your air conditioning on throughout the night, try turning on your ceiling fan or purchase an electric fan to help you stay cool while you sleep.

2.     Create a Comfortable Bed

Your mattress, sheets, pillows, and blankets make up an essential portion of your sleep quality. You spend 1/3 of your life sleeping, so why not invest in proper comfort? Finding what works best for you might take some trial and error, but taking the steps for comfort can leave you waking up feeling brand new.

3.     Make Your Bed

Making your bed every morning can help you sleep at night. A study from the National Sleep Foundation showed that those who made their beds every morning and kept a clean bedroom environment slept better each night.

4.     Turn Off the Lights

If your bedroom has windows that open to natural light or streetlights, you might want to purchase some blackout curtains that will keep your bedroom dark. You will also want to make sure your phone or electronics are turned off or covered to keep their light from disturbing you as you sleep.

5.     Get Rid of the Noise

Living in an environment with a lot of noise can make it hard to sleep. If you live in a busy area or around loud neighbors, earplugs or white noise machines might help. Noisy sounds make it difficult to sleep and can leave you waking up throughout the night, even if you do not remember doing so.
